"Procession" Series

This series of life-sized self-portraits was created on paper, canvas, wood, metal, and acrylic glass, then dragged, buried, and carried into daily environments. Each work combines a carefully rendered head with a gestural body, merging image with action. Through this process, the portraits became both likeness and record, shaped by terrain, weather, and time. Central to the work was the act of choosing when and how the portraits would be damaged, and when my own body would be made susceptible to injury during the dragging process. "Procession" makes visible the marks of illness, labor, and endurance, turning the negotiation between autonomy and vulnerability into part of the work itself.
